Neighborhood shootings

It hurts to write that headline - we've seen it too much. The bad news is that there was a shooting on Tuesday at 9 in the morning at Haight and Webster. The good news is that the Lower Haight neighborhood association is thriving and had already coincidentally already organized a meeting for that very evening, which attracted a crowd. A full report is available on SFist.

Some folks may not realize that we also had a daytime shooting a couple months ago on Hayes Street, between Lyon and Central, right in front of a funeral in progress. No one was hurt in that incident, and the SFPD were in the area and responded immediately. According to Capt. Ehrlich, it was retaliation between two people who live outside of the North Panhandle, and possibly even the City.

There is a theme here - we have a real problem with folks from outside of San Francisco visiting with guns a blaze. It's not the whole story, but a big part of it...
