planning for Divisadero Street

Folks,

We are pleased to announce the first of a series of Community
Meetings to discuss the Future of the Lower Divisadero Commercial
District (approximately between Haight and Eddy)

6:30 PM on Wednesday, February 8th
CPMC Davies Hospital Auditorium,
45 Castro Street (enter at Duboce) North Tower, B Level near the Cafeteria

This project aims to support existing neighborhood merchants,
residents, and property owners to improve the commercial and social
center of the neighborhood while ensuring its stability. This
community-driven effort will include a of a broad range of community
stakeholders to develop a vision for the district and prioritize a
set of actions to achieve their goals.

Issues to be addressed include:
* Physical appearance and streetscape
* Support, development, and promotion of local serving businesses
* Parking and traffic management
* Cleanliness and safety
* Other activities to help Divisadero better serve its merchants,
nearby residents, and property owners

This meeting is sponsored by:
The San Francisco Mayor's Office of Economic and Workforce
Development in partnership with nonprofit organizations Bay Area
Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), and Asian Neighborhood
Design, in coordination with Supervisor Mirkarimi's office, the
Department of City Planning, The Mayor's Greening Initiative,
Department of Public Works, and the Metropolitan Transportation
Agency.

Since this is the first time in a while that the entire community
will come together around a comprehensive vision for the future of
Divisadero, we are aiming to attract as many people as possible. We
have done a lot of outreach, but have not been 100% exhaustive. If
you would like to talk with us, or if you think that we are missing
anyone, please let me know so we can follow up.

Thank you,
Desiree

A BETTER MASONIC AVENUE FOR BIKES -- MEET MONDAY 1/9

Identified during the Bike Plan Update as one of the Top 20 Priority Bike Network projects, the Masonic Avenue corridor needs help. Connecting the Panhandle to Geary Boulevard and Laurel Heights, Masonic poses as "Route 55" but the actual bike space is pretty darned miserable. If you've dreamed of a better, bike-able Masonic, join us this Monday, 1/9, 6:30pm, at the Crossroads Cafe in the USF University Center as we look at making Masonic better for everyone: bikes and peds and transit and motor traffic. For more information, contact Andy Thornley at andy@sfbike.org or 415/431-BIKE x307.

Survey for Park Users

The Neighborhood Parks Council would like your park group to take a few minutes to fill out NPC's annual survey. Your feedback about how NPC can best advocate for parks and promote stewardship is especially important as we move into our tenth year of advocacy for a sustainable and equitable park system in San Francisco. We really hope you will fill out the NPC survey to give us guidance on ways we can better support your park group. The link to this survey is: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=769771630142
