What to do about street trash

Most NOPNA members know that we sponsor a streetscape committee which organizes folks who want to keep our neighborhood beautiful. If you don't already have a trash grabber or other vital grime fighting accessory, I encourage you to contact the committee about aquiring the gear.

But what about when your just walking through the 'hood and come across a pile of junk on the curb - do you know that a quick call (or email) to 28-CLEAN will prompt a crew from the SF Department of Public Works to address the mess?

If you don't already, I encourage you to program the number into your cell phone now, and use it next time you come across a mess. The folks at DPW are very friendly and quick, and it will make the neighborhood a better place for all of us.

A complete list of useful phone numbers is available at http://www.nopna.org/directory/directory.html.

28-CLEAN is really the best - I had to call them for a couple of items on Saturday morning ~9am, and by 4p the same day the mess was gone. This is one example of a city service that really works.
